Off the Menu raises over $100,000 for Victorian Hospital programs

Matthew Butcher and his team from Morris Jones created a truly unique dining experience for nearly 200 guests at Cargo Hall. Five talented chefs served up five courses inspired by their childhood memories, starting with a quirky and delicious school lunch box by Highline’s Simon Tarlington. Ryan Clift of Singapore’s Tippling Club reimagined his mum’s traditional leek and potato soup, which filled the noses of guests with nostalgia of home-cooked meals. Matthew Butcher served up a deconstructed seafood cocktail, sending everyone’s tastebuds back to the nineties followed by Coda chef Adam D’Sylva's aromatic duck curry served to share. The menu finished on a sweet note with Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio's very own Darren Purchese serving up a  Wagon Wheel inspired dessert based on his favourite treat growing up in England. Wine to suit every palette was flowing thanks to our major sponsor, Get Wines Direct.

The culinary journey was supported by fabulous entertainment and plenty of surprises. Our superstar MC, Shura Taft kept the event alive throughout the night interviewing Camp Quality puppets, celebrity guests, our chefs and families impacted by cancer. Dean Lewis, had the crowd spellbound with a surprise performance of his chart topper, Waves. Our live auction with a carnival twist saw the crowd bid on their favourite celebrity guest to dunk in our dunking booth. Bachelorette Georgia Love got her chance to dump (or dunk) her beau Lee Elliott. The bidding quickly reached fever pitch with a line-up of  celebrities, including Campbell Brown, Foreman Dan Reilly and Angry Dad taking the plunge into the ice-cold water.

In the silent auction, guests competed to win some of our standout prizes including an original David Bromley painting, a weekend away in a Bentley Bentayga and a Surf Yoga Hit retreat in Bali. Thanks to our generous prize donors we raised $25,000 during the silent auction.

A huge thanks to everyone that helped us raise over $100,000. This is an amazing achievement, which is a true testament to the love in the room on the night. With special thanks to Chef’s Hat for their support.

Check out this short video for a recap of the spectacular night.
